Language Courses
The opportunities to learn English in Australia are truly endless. Australia offers various courses depending on the student’s goals and aims. There are 7 main types of English courses available:

The significant advantage is that you can start almost any course at any time. Course duration may vary from 1 to 50 weeks. On completion, students will have the opportunity to sit for an international English knowledge exam - Cambridge (level 4), IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC and others.

Schools
It takes 12 years to complete an Australian school. Children start Primary school at the age of 5 or 6, and 6 or 7 years later, depending on the state, they continue onto Secondary school, which has two stages: the first 2-3 years is Junior Secondary and then Senior Secondary. On completion of Year 12, students are awarded a certificate of secondary education, which is known under different names in different states. Apart from that, some schools offer vocational certificates and special courses in conjunction with some universities, preparing students for further studies.

There are two main types of schools in Australia: public and private. Among them are boarding schools, religious schools, girls only schools, boys only schools and co-educational schools.

Australian schools are leaders in implementing innovative technologies in education and teachers have a wealth of experience in teaching students of different ethnic backgrounds and from different countries. In an Australian school, in a vibrant atmosphere, students are taught creative approach and independent thinking, develop academic abilities and personal qualities. Vocational Colleges
Australian vocational colleges aim to develop a specific practical knowledge and skills set. Vocational colleges can be public (which in their turn sometimes form part of a university) and private. There are more than 80 public and more than 5000 private vocational education providers in Australia. All of them are under strict government control that ensures high quality of the programs offered, the teaching staff and teaching methodologies. Upon graduation, students can either start a career or transfer to Year 2 or Year 3 of a university’s bachelor degree program.

Vocational colleges offer several levels of qualifications from Certificate (I, II, III or IV) to Diploma and Advanced Diploma. They also offer training programs after completion of a degree - vocational graduate certificate and vocational graduate diploma.

All vocational colleges in Australia have effective Recognition of Prior Learning systems for subjects undertaken with a different education provider.

Higher Education
There are 37 state and 2 private universities in Australia. Australian degrees are recognised all over the world and open doors to a bright future for their graduates. At Australian universities, students are actively engaged in the learning process. The abilities to think independently and outside the square, critically assess the reading material, participate in discussions and work in a team are considered important.

Many universities offer Foundation programs for university study preparation which usually last up to a year. It is an interim step between secondary education obtained at an overseas school and starting a higher education program at an Australian university. They equip international students with knowledge and skills required for university-level study.

Usually, a Bachelor degree program takes 3 years to complete (longer for some programs and double degrees, up to 6 years). After studying for another year, students obtain Honour’s degree and if a student wishes to continue onto a graduate/postgraduate program, they can obtain Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master’s degree or PhD.

Certain higher education programs can be undertaken at vocational colleges. Often, the cost of study is somewhat lower than that of a comparable program at a university.
